About Postmark Press

Kathy Alpert, Founder, PostMark Press

Kathy Alpert of PostMark PressKathy Alpert has been fascinated by ephemera since she discovered vintage postcards and Fortune Magazines in her grandfather’s New Hampshire barn.  Today, her collection includes not only postcards and magazines, but photography, sheet music, trade cards, fruit crate labels, and matchbooks.  A writer, designer, and photographer, she launched the PostMark Press greeting card line in 2001 and began licensing her work a few years later.  Today, PostMark designs can be found on products ranging from greeting cards to calendars to coasters.  You will find some great examples from Kathy’s vast archive throughout this site. The images displayed and thousands of others can be licensed for use in innovative or creative design projects.

A few examples of our licensed art

We have worked with licensee Sellers Publishing since 2008. The latest Retro Mama calendar planner includes colorful sticky notes.

Crescent Moon was a best seller for PostMark Press. When Leanin’ Tree launched its own line of PostMark designs in 2006, this card had a second life as a best seller for our licensee.

Design House Greetings was our licensee for this design, which was a hit nationwide for its client, a national grocery chain.

Leading coaster manufacturer Thirstystone Resources has licensed our designs since the early aughts. Their high quality coasters are made of 100% sandstone.

Kathy Alpert was a guest on a special Valentine’s Day edition of the Martha Stewart Living TV program. Kathy shared a number of vintage Valentine postcards from her collection. Ms. Stewart was intrigued by the handwritten postcard messages. After the show, she gave Kathy a postcard bearing an image of her house in Maine, the former summer home of Edsel Ford. It had been adapted from the original 20th century linen postcard.

Martha Stewart gave Kathy this postcard. It is a replica of the vintage postcard created by Edsel Ford, previous owner of the home.
